    This weeks topic,

::: Dynamic Lighting :::

We have all been to a club and/or lounge and admired the broad range of atmospheric climates it has to offer. The way the overall setup can change and set moods. Whether your local club sports a tropical theme, beach side theme or the ever so popular urban street scene there is one thing they all have in common. Most people are totally oblivious to the machine behind the club themed shell that works day in and day out to provide that special atmosphere club goers and urbanites love.  Many hard man hours go into planning a layout of a club/lounge and many more dollars are spent to make it a reality. One of the most important aspects in any venue, is its lighting. That is why its with great pleasure that this weeks Spotlight is on Martin Entertainment.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, Martin Professional develops, manufactures, and sells dynamic lighting products and solutions, smoke machines, and controllers for entertainment, architectural, and commercial applications. Martin is a truly global company with 1250 employees worldwide, and we have the industry’s most complete and capable distributor network, with local partners in almost 100 countries.

Martin has created dozens of products available to not only big club’s, but also for any Dj’s mobile rig. I myself rock a few martin effect lights in my rig, and they are my best lights in my setup. So if you are a club/lounge owner looking for something to spice up your spot, or your a mobile Dj that wants to set themself above the rest then please check out this great company.

All I can say is holy shit, KRS-One just destroyed every wack ass DJ you hear on the radio and every twat who got a Numark Battle Pack trying to become the next Tiesto.

Long live good music.

/ Bishop Lamont Shits On Mainstream Rap’s Negative Stereotypes

Bishop Lamont - Grow Up (Produced by Dr. Dre)

First off, I’d like to say, Dre still bangs out epic beats. Secondly, Bishop Lamont is one of the few saving graces of Hip Hop. His message to mainstream Hip Hop is simple, yet speaks volumes: “Grow Up.” I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not against some of the goofy dance songs Hip Pop produces, because like Bishop says, it’s just kids. Soulja Boy is 16, he’s allowed to act like a retard, but when you see these mid-twenty year olds talking about waving guns and fucking bitches and hustling, it’s just sad. Could you imagine if you saw a regular person, say, your Dad, in a 5 XXL shirt holding his balls talking about how he’s the shit? You’d think it was a joke, because there’s no way something that retarded could exist, yet these rappers are still taken seriously doing the exact same thing. You know what, I could go on and on about the subject, but it just frustrates me to no end. If you read this blog, you probably already agree with the song, and the people who disagree are usually stubborn dumbasses I couldn’t convince anyway. It’s depressing.

Please help me find hope in the world. If you’re a DJ, play this song every chance you get. If you like Hip Hop, or even music in general, please call a radio station or email MTV and ask them to play this song. If they refuse, boycott them.

Key lines:

“I used to think fucking up was cool, loved ditching class till I didn’t pass high school.”

“And God damn niggas pull up your pants. Got your drawers all out, what, you want to strip dance?”

“You bought an iPhone, but live in your momma’s home?”

Breakbot has a new remix! If you don’t know Breakbot or his remixes, imagine Daft Punk mixed with 60’s Rock N’ Roll with a touch of 70’s funk. I really don’t know how to describe him, his music is just so damn funky and so damn electroey.

I’m scavenging the web as we speak for an mp3. I’ll update if I find one. But since we’re on the subject of Lion remixes, check out the Soma Soundsystem remix while you’re at it.

I’m not that big of a “black power” advocate, considering I’m not, well, black, but I can definitely understand where Nas is coming from in regards to mainstream news and media. Favorite line:

“Network for child predators, settin’ ‘em up
Myspace pimps, hoes, and sluts
Y’all exploit rap culture, then y’all flip on us
And you own the post, and y’all shit on us”

While you and I may not agree with everything he says, you can at least commend him for having the guts to say it.
